KUALA GANDAH ELEPHANT REHABILITATION CENTER
The Kuala Gandah Elephant Rehabilitation Center is owned and managed by DWNP, which falls under the purview of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment (NRE). As a result, it is de facto the National Elephant Conservation Center.
Activities at Kuala Gandah
Activities at Kuala Gandah include elephant bathing, feeding sessions and elephant riding programs are FREE!
However, to participate in some of the activities, visitors have to obtain stickers that determine the activities one could participate. Each activity is limited, however. And on the weekends, these stickers are distributed very quickly to activity seekers.

Getting There
There is no easy access to the Kuala Gandah Rehabilitation Center by public transportation (especially when you have to arrive at the facility early to obtain those stickers).
Self-drive and participation via travel and tour companies are the only viable options.
While tour companies offering connecting services are easily found on the web, one could consider driving eastward out of Kuala Lumpur (towards Kuantan). Once on the East Coast Highway, take the first exit at Lanchang and another right turn after the toll booth. A drive to the facility will take about two hours.
Contributions Towards the Center
As activities are FREE at this facility, the Center is open to the collection of contributions from visitors.
Do contribute at this facility as monies collected here do go towards the management and upkeep of the animals and facilities. Do not, however, contribute online at unscrupulous websites that you may stumble upon. The DWNP has not sanctioned any fund raising by third parties, on- or off-the-web.
